Central Florida Sustainable Communities Initiative

The Foundation

Over the past 25 years Brian and Myrna Canin have refined the craft of community building in Central Florida. Today, Canin Associates-with 65 architects, planners, urban designers, and landscape architects -is committed to creating sustainable communities and environments that enrich the quality of life treasured for both current and future generations.

As a way of celebrating a quarter century in the practice of the craft of community building, Brian and Myrna Canin have established a non-profit corporation to share their expertise and support decision makers in their efforts to create great places for people.

The Program Coordinator

The current Program Coordinator of the Sustainable Communities Initiative is Chelsea Pierce. Chelsea's background in urban and regional planning has afforded her with both perspective for the larger context and an understanding of the finite details of planning issues. Chelsea believes strongly in the importance of community building and is an advocate for developing locally tailored solutions to planning issues. Through CFSCI she has worked to bring residents, decision-making bodies, and the development community together to build consensus around the community's vision and sustainable planning principles.
